Minecraft Servers not working?

I tried posting this question in the minecraft forums but had no luck so I'd like to know if anyone here has any idea, I will post the original post below.

I've recently built a new computer and I am having problems connecting to minecraft servers. The problem being that sometimes,when connecting to a server I get disconnected for an unknown reason and I am given various messages after disconnecting. If anyone knows a reason for this and hopefully a solution it would be appreciated as this has gone on for about 4 months now and is becoming incredibly irritating.
EDIT: The main server I play on is eu.mineplex.com and I rarely manage to actually get on the server.

OK, so try this, go to the site of this server ( if they have it). I they dont, search online for what version they are running. Even i got the same problem when i played on nexus. If you have a higher version which they dont support, its gonna be a problem, so downgrade your version to theirs and it might work!

I'm using eu.mineplex.com and from what the site says its running the latest update (1.7.9) it is also not just this server, it is a problem on most servers.

hmmm. Mate you might have to download your minecraft again.
OR you can try on other servers and see if its a problem

Tried both of these suggestions and have come to no solution. Thanks for the suggestion though
