Mini displayport to displayport able to push 144 hz? Laptop to monitor

I'm about to buy a 144 hz monitor. I know i can't push 144 hz through HDMI from my laptop but i just found out that I have a mini displayport. I found a monitor with a displayport and therefore i ask if it's possible to push 144 hz from my laptops mini displayport connected to the monitors displayport? 120 hz or 144 hz doesn't matter.

MiniDP to DP can do 120hz with a 1.2 cable.
As far as I know to get 144hz you need mDP to Dual link DVI along with the appropriate Nvidia GPU.
