I just bought a Mini-ITX 970 from gigabyte (GV-N970IXOC-4GD). The thing is I only got it cause it was the cheapest one I could find and I will be putting it in a mid tower case. Will I have any problems having it in a mid tower? and what is the differences of this and the full sized cards. I know the clock speed is slower but am I going to be really loosing a lot with this card?

Solution
As the people above said, overclock capability will be small if any. Also m-itx versions are usually slightly factory-downclocked, but this is not a major deal - for the gigabyte the downclock is 3% vs their "regular" 3fan 970.
On the flip side - heat and power consumption will be lower, it is highly possible that some selection is made for the chips that are put in the m-itx version, so that they are the ones with lower power consumption.
I dont believe you will have any problems.

you have a lower clock speed. i doubt you would be able to overclock it as far as a normal sized 970. but on the flip side less power consumption which is nice. more space in the case as well.

Where did you take the info that it cannot be overclocked as a regular 970, and that it runs at a slower clock speed?

The card is simply smaller; you can change the speed of the core as you see fit. The smaller card will run hot since there is less surface for dissipate the heat, but other than that, the card is exactly the same as a full size GTX 970.

I had a regular 970 and made the switch to the smaller one, and 3dmark is scoring the same (with a 4% deviation, which is natural due to the higher operational temperature.

If you are not a big overclocker then go with the Gigabyte GTX 970 Mini ITX http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDD.... It CAN overclock as well as other 970's but the cooling won't allow you to overclock as efficiently.

Personally, I would spend the xtra $30 and spring for the cherry picked Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Gaming-GD.... It has a superior cooler, guaranteed better overclocking (due to cherry picked GPU and better hardware), and comes with a nice backplate. =) Up to you though and what you plan to use the card for and what you plan to do with it.

Obviously if space restrictions are a concern you want the ITX.

Hi! I have the same Card in a Mid-tower too! I overclocked it to 1200Mhz standard and 1402 boost clock! Works perfectly stable and fine with a maximum temperature of 65°C! Greetings!
