H,i in process of building water cooled game rig , and i do have pci mini ssd ,on mobo , mini,s are new to me . so if i can get some input ,as to what direction , looking for performance and space reduction would be great since i am building water cooled pc,
these are my present spec,s

case ; phantom 820
mobo ; asus maximus v extreme
cpu; i73770k
memory ; corsair ddr3 1600
gpu sapphire x 290-x 8gb
power 750 watt , until my corsair 1200 comes back
hd ; samsung 840 500g ,single, until samsung sends new

what happen is one of the ssd,s 840 stopped working and samsung is sending replacement , i had both 840,s in raid,o in old pc , now i am building new and have opportunity to perhaps upgrade , i have mini ssd as option . which i am not up to date on tech on mini,s , so my question is what direction to take perhaps single mini with 1T , or single ssd 1T or raid o mini,s 500mb each or what i had raid o ssd,s 500mb each mins will free up space to add second loop , so i am seeking advise ,
thank you

The 950 pro is not likely to be of use on anything but a skylake or X99 based motherboard.
The 950 pro mounts in a motherboard M.2 slot and depends on a modern motherboard to allow the very high sequential speeds.

If you are planning on using a maximus V motherboard, the best ssd you can buy would be the Samsung 850 PRO in whatever capacity you want.

There are some other pcie based solutions that will work such as the Intel 750 which takes up a pcie x4 slot.
I have no experience with that particular device, so read the reviews.

From a practical point of view, a large single ssd is about as good as it gets. I have seen no benefits from trying to raid-0 ssd devices.

What are the parts list for your proposed build?
What is your budget?
What parts do you plan to reuse?

I might think of using a Samsung 950 PRO NVMe M.2 device for the OS and repurpose your two 500gb ssd drives for bulk storage. I would avoid using them in raid-0. If you want a single 1tb image use windows to treat them as a jbod drive.

Bu mini ssd, I think you mean M.2 (they are truly tiny)

this is what i purchased, 50mm sata III/6g msata solid state drive has 128 g , and the asus max v has a pci card holder which this attaches with the wifi device , called the mpci module ,
i have installed this card onto it and work,s , so i was thinking of just getting a 1t , and install operating system . and yes put the other ssd,s ibod , sounds good . but i am not familiar with , mini .and i am already over budget.but if this can perform like a ssd , great then i save a lot of space , to add my second loop . i am building water cooled . right now setting up gpu loop and later install cpu loop , doing it in two stages , so i will look up m2 , since i need to educate myself ,a bit

did some looking up i do like the samsung 950 pro nvm , but two issues how do you mount it ? the mount on asus ,is set up for mini , i believe the 950 pro will extent too far on mobo mount will hit capacitors since it is located top left corner .since the mini is just making it . and is there is not a difference in performance between the mini samsung and the 950 pro .if there is ,then the whole idea ,is not good . stick to normal ssd .
love the pci ssd . can afford just the 240 the 1t is out of my price .

i agree, if anything the mini just added confusion . and a good ssd is best option , single .i did purchase a mini it cost me 50 dollars and i believe it is a cache .i did install os ,and experimented . but i rather have things simple and will .not add it , and shop for a 1.T .ssd .continue using my 500gb . until that time comes .and stick a hd for back up .i was impressed with pci , but cost , is factor dollar for dollar cant beat single ssd .
so i will experiment with my mini , i found a pci slot which i can put it onto , and if this works , then i can have a mini on pci , maybe get both worlds ,at lower cost .
