HI guys,
I am upgrading my current HTPC to do some gaming and needed some advice. I am planning on using a GTX 780 for graphics, and I am pretty set on that. Where I am a little unsure is in the CPU realm, I currently have a Intel Pentium G3220 Haswell, which has been great for HTPC purposes, but I know that it will likely bottleneck the 780. I do not want to swap out the motherboard, so I need to go with an LGA 1150 socket type.
My question, essentially, is what is the least expensive CPU i could put into this build that will not drag down the 780. All other tasks were handled wonderfully by the pentium, so not bottlenecking the GPU without swapping out the motherboard are my only concerns here. I do not intend to do any overclocking as I am not comfortable with it.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
