Mining at 100% GPU power target?

Hi!

I started a week ago to mine with nicehash on my gaming pc. I left the gpu power target setting on 67% because other miners do that too and apparently it makes the same income with less power. This is true for Ethereum mining. But for nicehash if I leave the card at 100% power limit it makes 1$/day more and it consumpts just 0,15$/day than on 67% power limit. So I could make 25$ per month more.

The question is: is there a higher probability the card will be damaged on 100% power target 24/7 than on 70% power target 24/7?

Its still under warranty for two and a half years, but its good to know.

Thank you!

Solution
Nop people are running their cards on 120% consumption and their cards are fine
These were made to run at 100% if it can't do that consistently than its a faulty card

BUT depends on your temperatures! They should be good or your card is fried
Also your fans WILL get damaged by 24/7 usage regardless of the power target but the chip is fine

Solution
Depends on the exact model and the build quality 😉
But I haven't seen any study about it

In my opinion if it does the effect is extremely small I would focus on the temperatures replacing the cooler is far easier

Great :) I am running now at 71 degrees C and 60% fan speed. I think that should be alright. Its the asus dual gtx 1070 and I am a little but worried how the temperatures gonna be wenn I add an asus dual gtx 1060 6gb in that case.

I tested both individually and the Asus dual is definitely not the coolest card... Both of them are at 70 degrees C when playing games or mining at 60% fan speed. Its neither low temperature, neither silence.

Btw the case is Phanteks P400s and i think i have a good airflow. I have two intakes at the front and one exhaust at the rear. And there are no cages with drives or cables etc. in the way of the airflow.

What do you mean by payout? My plan is holding the money and waiting till BTC's worth raises a bit again. I make with a gtx 1070 on 67% power target 0.0003xxx btc which is about 3,5USD a day and with 100% power target it gets around 0.0004xxx BTC which is around 4.5USD a day :)

I looked around and found mining cards still working after mining 5 years 24/7 (amd hd 7000 series)
(Nothing died on em even their fans are fine)

Nvidia rates pascal at 84C operating temperatures and the official statement is under 91C you are totally fine this sounds a bit hot to me too but if your card dies because of temperate you can at least blame nvidia as they said its fine xP

Around 70C you are fine my guess is your fans will die ~2.5 3 years from now if you keep mining with that but I'm an optimistic lad ;P

If you put 2 cards in the case whatever happens don't let em reach 90C but even if they reach into the 80s you should be fine the reference models run 84c constantly and they have 2years warranty by nvidia
