Is it worth it??

I know that Bitcoin is well past the stage of being profitable to mine from a single home PC, but are there any other currencies that are profitable/viable to mine without dedicated hardware?

I'm open to the idea of pooloed mining but I'm not looking to buy an ASIC, just interested to know whether or not I can earn a few ££ whilst my PC isn't in use for other stuff.

I recently built a new PC and am now in the market for a GPU - I'd considered a GTX 1060 6GB, which would fit my 1080p gaming needs, but if it's still worthwhile to mine coins then I might stump up a bit more for a higher spec card.

Thanks in advance for any answers!

Solution
No. There are no profitable cryptocurrencies. Mining costs more to run then it returns, in electricity costs, in any configuration. There are still some ASICs that might just make you a profit, but GPU mining stopped being profitable about 2 years ago.

Solution
There are altcoins that can be mined on a home computer then exchanged for bitcoins.
I use Minergate, a software that can be used on a mac, PC or even a mobile device.
Minergate provides the most profitable altcoins to mine and is so easy to set up and learn.
You can very easily exchange your coins for bitcoins.

For cloud mining with the option to mine on a computer there's Eobot.

You can mine on your computer or claim a little from their faucet then build up cloud power
I can only compare my mining ventures to using a coinstar,, you won't make a living but it's extra money.
Most importantly, never run a computer or device 24 hours a day.
