Hello ,
I know that a mining rig is expensive and it needs a lot of wattage while it is working , but don't take everything about cash and wattage in mind . So I want to build a server/mining rig in order to mine some cryptocurrency . Actually I don't really care about how much cryptocurrency will I get... even if I get nothing . I just want to make this server work (Just for the experience) . This is going to be a GPU mining rig . I have seen that a good option for GPU mining rigs are RX 480/580 . Can you guys please suggest me what motherboard, cpu, ram, psu combo would it be good for mining ? What mining program for Bitcoin etc. should I use ? Can I install 2 GPUs first (just to see that the server is working) and after some weeks another 4-5 GPUs ? Will I need a liquid cooling for all the cards and cpu ? Is Asrock H110 Pro BTC+ a good option ? Should I change some settings from the BIOS in order to make all GPUs work ? One last question , after I set up the mining system and install windows , I just launch any mining software and that's it ?
Sorry for the long post ,
and really thank you for your time guys !

Solution
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z270-WS/ is an example.
the CPU and GPU choice depends on the mining SW. Some do better with AMD, some with Nvidia. power consumption/heat also should be taken into account.
So basically, you pick what you want to mine, go to their forums and pick the most relevant HW and SW.
this MB is to be used with risers to connect the gpus. So the system will be something like this: https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1RZojSXXXXXa6XFXXq6xXFXXXi/Riser-miner-case-eth-for-BTC-LTC-mining-machine-graphics-card-cooling-chassis-rack-fixing-frame.jpg
If you are interested in building a mining rig, you can do it with 2 cards, or if you want 4, there are motherboards with 4 x16 PCIe slots that can be used to build a system in a closed case. you don't need a liquid cooling (if built correctly) but you do need an air conditioner or excellent ventilation of the room. this rig will be working like a heater

Can you suggest me a better motherboard, cpu, ram and psu ? When I install windows in this rig I just the mining program and that's it ? Should I change some settings from BIOS ?

So for example , I buy Asrock H110 Pro BTC+ with a Pentium cpu and 16 or 32 GB of ram . Also I install 6xRX 580 . And 2 PSUs from etc. EVGA G2 1000 Watt . After that what operating system should I install ? Also do I need a mining module in order to mine every cryptocurrency ?

Oh nice , can my system work with one PSU 1200Watt with 4-5 GPUs RX 580 and after some weeks (I will buy 4-5 more cards) Install a second PSU?

Thank you but , can my system work with one PSU 1200Watt with 4-5 GPUs RX 580 and after some weeks (I will buy 4-5 more cards) Install a second PSU? (previous question)

Yes it can, To know more about Power Supply Units and Best Power Supply Units For Cryptocurrency Mining, read this review: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-cryptocurrency-mining-power-supplies,5216.html

Okay thank you very much ! So if I buy the ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ will I be ok ? I mean will it have big difference in mining versus Asus B250 Mining Expert Motherboard ?

The aus has more features like support for 19 expansion slots: https://www.anandtech.com/show/11739/asus-announces-b250-expert-mining-motherboard-19-expansions-slots

Really thanks for your help i appreciate it a lot ! I will go with ASrock then. By the way i have found these https://www.amazon.co.uk/SODIAL-Express-Extender-Adapter-Litecoin/dp/B00OPO4K8K/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1464643563&sr=8-7&keywords=pcie+riser+cable+usb&linkCode=sl1&tag=youtuberisky-21&linkId=d488065fc1c461bb685badc9fcecc495 but it says Bitcoin/Litecoin . Does it mean that it has low performance mining other cryptocurrencies than Bitcoin/Litecoin ? Also can you suggest me another riser if thats not good ?

Yes those will work.. How many graphic cards are you planning on using?

6 I guess ! For HDD what should I use ? A regural HDD/7200Rpm with windows 10 ? Also should I format my HDD with a specific way ? Or just install Windows 10 from here : https://www.microsoft.com/el-gr/software-download/windows10 with a usb and then run the mining program .

Cool ! I am doing a fresh install so i will use a USB . Something else , should I change something from the BIOS in order to make my system read the GPUs? All my GPUs are going to be RX 580 8GB but 2 are going to be Gigabyte 1 MSI etc. I will not face any problems with that difference , right ? Also what should I use , integrated graphics (Intel Celeron) or graphics from one RX 580 that I am using ?

Sorry for the long post and really thanks for your help !

You shouldn't run into any problems just make sure the GPU's have the same 8GB Memory and you can use graphics from the GPU.

Okay ! But can I have signal from every gpu ? I mean can I connect the HDMI from every GPU to my monitor and get a signal or I must connect my cpu graphics (just in case) . If I have connected all the GPUs and connect the HDMI to my cpu graphics will everything work ok ?

Thanks for your answer , can you reply my question bellow ?

You are welcome and happy new year!!! have fun with your new build..
