Trying to shrink Partition to install Ubuntu. I've tried Disk Management but it can only shrink 172 MB.( I have 45GB of free space)
Heard that the next best thing is MiniTool Partition Wizard Free.
It obviously couldn't run while I was using the partition so I restarted it. It got to the progress bar but didn't budge from 0%.
It then came up with an error message saying that my drive is too fragmented and that I should defrag my drive. Knowing it's an SSD i'm hesitant to do so.
Wanted to know an expert opinion on what to do next.
Thanks in Advance!
Specs: Windows 7 Professional 64bit. HP EliteBook 8440p

Solution
Do NOT defrag a SSD. In all honesty, doing it once or twice won't hurt it, but it is completely pointless and uses unnecessary write cycles on the drive. I have never used the software you are referring to so I cannot comment on it. Have you tried disabling system restore and ensuring TRIM is enabled on the drive?

Thank you for the suggestion!
I have just made sure TRIM is enabled and have disabled system restore now.
Will try to shrink partition space again and see if it works now.

Decided to not dual boot it but just wipe it completely.
Sorry if I wasted your time.
Do you know how to delete threads?
