Im in a little bit of mix up here. I was interested in creating a media center box/pc for my house.
I can't decide on whether to get a the minix x8 android box or build a pc.

The minix would be a nice solution as it is mostly plug and play also it comes at a lower price.

I also have a spare power supply and a radeon HD 7770 laying around in good condition. So I was thinking about building a media centre pc out of that. I was interested in these parts

CPU: AMD Athlon 5350
Mobo: ASUS AM1M-A
ram: 4GB (2x2GB) 1600
Storage: 120 gb ssd and have an external hard drive connected
case: can be anything (not important right now)

Which would be a better solution?
I was leaning towards the pc solution as windows allows for much more flexibility, while on the other hand the android box has nice simple interface.

The box said that it can play 4k video smoothly and Ive seen some reviews where people said it does a good job at that. Im not sure if my 7770 can handle 4k video or can it.

Solution
The HD 7770 is capable of 4k resolution. It is a more powerful GPU, than any IGP. Since you are going to be using the HD 7770, I would go with a different CPU. I would probably use an 860k, if sticking with AMD. Otherwise, a Pentium G3220 would be sufficient. It would also be cheaper and use less power than the 860k.

I think i'm most likely going to go with windows HTPC. Even though android boxes do the job for a lower price they still do not perform as good as a windows based device. I have an ouya box that is being mainly used for xbmc but it still does have quite a few hiccups. If I wanted to later on I could even install linux on that comp and boot up android, can't do that the other way around since those small boxes use chips that aren't x86 based.

The question that I had was will my hd 7770 be able to handle 4k video playback.
