I'm generally not useless when it comes to troubleshooting, but this issue has had me stuck for over a year.
I have a custom built desktop with a 2070, that has an HDMI and DisplayPort output. I use the TV as a second monitor, mainly for mirroring or playing videos. Something similar to this setup:
The monitor is 1080p 75Hz, and is connected with HDMI to HDMI.
The TV is a Samsung smart TV 1080p 60Hz and is connected with DisplayPort (Computer) to HDMI (TV).
Here is my issue. If both displays are turned on, no issue. However, when I turn the TV off, my computer will randomly play the hardware disconnect / reconnect sound, and cause a 1 - 3 second lag / freeze on Windows, regardless if I'm using a desktop program, or playing a game. The intervals of when this happens are not consistent. Sometimes it happens 3 times in a minute, other times it happens once every 10 - 20 minutes. Unplugging the DisplayPort to HDMI cable resolves this issue.
I have done fresh reinstallation of Windows multiple times since this problem has persisted. I have used different drivers. I have tried changing every display setting I can think of. I have switched cables.
Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.
