I'm really frustrated

  1. bought Comkia Mobi Vault H07 from Computer central with 2 2.5" HDDs that are 2TBs
  2. hooked them up together and connected to Windows 7
  3. could not get RAID 1 to work no matter what I tried. always get the same error "the operation is not supported by the object".

here are the pics

lost all hope. i even found 1 guy said the same exact thing and said "i gave up. will use these 2 drives for manual backup on each". but the entire purpose for why i bought these is mirroring RAID1. one guy here even said that there is a reset switch that fixes this, but my RAID enclosure doesn't have it. i will test Windows 8 and then Windows 10 (2 other systems at my family this week). but I am running a W7 laptop.

other combos work, even though I don't remember which ones, but RAID 1 always gives me the same message no matter how many different tricks and formats I try (not just MBR) or cluster size.

Doesn't say it supports raid anywhere on the product page. It just says it's dual bay.

And being a USB device, if it did, it would have a raid enabled or type switch on it sso you could select raid 0, 1, or none.

If you look at your link and go to the product page for the Vantec they are talking about, it does say it supports raid.

[Edit] BTW - My theory on why you can't even use something like storage spaces is that the external can access only 1 drive at a time which defeats raid.

there is a switch to change 4 types of RAIDs inside the bay before you close it and put the screws in. it detects both HDDs. i know this because with other options like RAID 0 and the other 2, you could set the HDDs as either 1 whole or 2 seperate ones, but it does NOT work for Mirroring. always gives me the same message.

i guess i feel a little better after coming across guys with same exact problems. but not much help. they just say it won't work no matter what.

sometimes i really hate dealing with computers. they are just as confusing as women.

okay, so just checked it with W10 PC-same exact message, and W8 PC-doesn't even have an option for mirroring.

sounds to me like it is this enclosure-it doesn't support mirroring option. but then why the f do they even sell it as RAID? gonna look for it elsewhere. i just gotta do it quick since i bought those 2 HDDs and return policy isn't even 30 days...
