Misiing partition after crash during defrag

My computer crashed while I was defragging my hdd.
I could not launch my computer or repair windows.
I put my hdd in another computer and the partition i had my OS on cannot be seen.
Is there anyway to recover the data on the partition?

So I used this and ran a deep search. It was unable to recover the partition.
does this mean my only option left is to format the partition and reinstall the OS?

Before you do, you can try a number of other recovery utilities, like Recuva, for example. Or Easeus Data Recovery.
