So I know the numbers don't always match up, but i'm pretty sure 79GB of space from my SSD is gone. It is my boot drive with Windows 10 installed on it, but surely that can't be the explanation?

Screenshot of WinDirStat and Samsung Magician

Any insight on this would be helpful.

PC:
i7 4790K @4.2Ghz
12GB DDR3 1600mhz (1 stick of 4GB died, don't see point in replacing)
EVGA GTX Titan X Maxwell
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (SSD in question, Boot drive)
1TB Seagate HDD 7200RPM

It says 165GB free because I deleted some stuff between my first post and now, but Windirstat still says only 220GB is being used. It's advertised as a 500GB hard drive, so it's full capacity is 465GB according to Disk Management. 465 - 220 = 245GB not the 165GB it's stating is available.

Well yeah you never get the full size. 1TB HDDs always come with like 900 and odd useable.

Disk Management Screenshot

HDD manufacturers state "size" as 1 KB =1000 bytes, while windows format with 1KB as 1024 Bytes so larger the disk more "loss" in space. In addition, Samsung reserves few GB on special partition for "Wear leveling" and "garbage collection" that are supposed to prolong SSD's life.

Yeah I know that, which is why the SSD is advertised as 500GB and shows up as having 465GB Usable Space. But The numbers don't add up. 465GB usable space - 220GB used space should equal 245GB, not 165GB shown in windows and Samsung Magician.

80GB of "Free Space" has disappeared. This is not a question of confusion over why my "500GB" Can only hold 465GB, this is a matter of numbers not adding up at all.
