missing cmos password

I have a Toshiba satellite s55t b5273nr. It is now prompting for the cmos password. I do not recall the password so I can’t get past the login screen. The laptop is 2 years old. I have tried different passwords, followed instructions I have found on the web. Left the battery out for hours. The time and date prompt pops up but as soon as you click enter it prompts for the password again. I appreciate any help you can provide. Mark

Why is my Toshiba s55t b5273nr laptop window 8 upgraded to windows 10; opening with virtual keyboard on screen prompting for password. It typically opens with the window with the circle and password brings up my desktop, any suggestions? It will not accept the pass code I typically use. When entered another pop up opens and says there is an error, clicking ok sends you back to the first screen. The virtual keyboard looks like something that is generate outside of what the normal virtual keyboard looks like that I have seen on Windows. There have been no issues with signing in until now. Could this be a hard drive crash?
