Missing Data On External Hard drive

Hello,
I was surprised to find my files missing from my hard drive. I had a whole lot of series which I have collected over time. The folders are there just empty and the size is 0Kbs. I didn't delete anything so where could they have gone. I have tried File scavenger and a few others I am not getting any joy.

Is there any way of getting these files back..

hey, that sounds very strange. has all the data gone missing from all your folders?

just empty folders left, no files on your HDD?

what make and model is the HDD?

what format is it, NTFS or FAT32 ?

the only thing i can think of is the file table has gone corrupt, but data recovery software should still find file's. so im not sure. need more info tbh
