I recently clean installed my OS (Windows 7 Ultimate) and when I try to get online I'm told that I have no driver for my network adapter. Fine, that's no problem I thought so I went online with my other computer to get the driver but I can't figure out which driver I need...
Can someone help me out here? This is the first time I've re-installed an OS myself so I'm learning a lot as I go.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I've been trying to figure out what network adapter I have but I can't find it. When I looked up how to find out what network adapter I have the information I found said it's not possible to find out if there isn't a driver installed...That struck me as ridiculous but it's because of that that I decided to post here.
Really all I know is that my computer model is Gateway LX6810-01. If you instruct me on how to find you more information I will gladly do it but that's all I was able to turn up on my own, sorry 🙁

Okay, yes, that was the first thing I found too when I did my initial search but it doesn't look like a safe download to me; every download on the page points to a zip file except for the one I need (the Windows 7 64bit one) which points to an executable file named driver_setup.exe. That struck me as illegitimate. I checked the credibility of driverscape and it has a positive reputation so I doubt the file is anything too nasty but I suspect it's an auto-installer that includes some additional stuff I don't want. Do you not agree with my assessment? Do you think the download is clean?

There's no rule saying that manufacturers don't pack their auto-installers with shit.
But fine, I downloaded it. There was no driver, it just installed a program called DriverToolKit onto my computer. If that wasn't BS enough, DriverToolKit doesn't seem to even be able to do anything without a connection to the internet.
So, what are your thoughts on that?

Just to be 100% clear, this is the link I clicked:

That link you clicked is right next to the word AD....

You downloaded an AD without even looking at the site. That file you downloaded was 2.28mb while EVERY OTHER VERSION OF THE DRIVER WAS 120mb or so. A simple 30 second glance would have shown you that you were downloading an ADVERTISEMENT from the WORD AD and the file size difference. Not to mention the text above what you downloaded is COMPLETELY different from the other 10 or so versions of the driver.

This is no fault of my own. sorry, this is a simple not reading and thinking before you click. I figured this was just common sense. I'm sorry for the mistake.

If you can figure out what model the network adapter is, you can get a driver form their site directly. This might be the best route to take.

You know what? Fuck you. I did notice the size of the file, as well as the word "ad" next to it, AS WELL AS the fact that the download pointed to an executable instead of a zip. I specifically pointed that out in a previous post but you insisted it was the correct download (apparently without actually reading what I said) and so I reluctantly took your word for it. I really don't mind that, miscommunications happen easily, especially in situations like this, and I understand that free advice is to be taken with a grain of salt, but you've been giving me undue attitude since your second post. So again, Fuck off. I don't need anything more from you.

For anyone else interested, I think I actually figured out the problem just now. My installation is 64-bit, which I forgot to mention; that's completely my fault and I take full responsibility for that slip up. It's relevant because the download page we're looking at here doesn't show anything for Windows 7 64-bit, it only has 32-bit for Windows 7.
So I guess my new question should be if there exists a driver for this network adapter that is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit and if not, what are my options? I'm going to move this to a new thread, though; it seems only reasonable since my question has changed and, frankly, there's some bad blood in this thread now that I'd like to distance myself from.
