Question Missing "DVD/CD-ROM drives" category in Device Manager Matshita UJ8E0

Win 10 Pro 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3516) Dell OptiPlex 9020 SFF.

Original Problem
DVD/CD drive would appear for a while, then disappear from Bios, My computer, Device Manager.
Don't know when this started but drive was working perfectly in Win 10 prev, problem poss started after Win 10
.Net upgrade (anecdotal) or following conversion to UEFI / GPT disks (from Legacy bios), not sure, drive rarely used.

Also - my Dell bios was originally setup using the Dell DEFAULT, RAID SATA driver ?
Would also get a "Device Not Migrated" message under this setup, when trying to update driver in Device Manager.

Thinking RAID driver was poss problem, reinstalled system after RESET / Restore to use AHCI based SATA driver.
Hard Disk boots fine, never sees the CD drive in bios or anywhere else, though drive does spin-up and attempt to read CD from Power up or sleep waking.

Have swapped SATA ports, SATA cable, tried Auggi's Regedit updates for removing filters and modding Atapi / Enum0 keys.
Tried adding in iTunes again (to re-recognise drive with), then checked GEARAspiWDM driver was FULLY removed from Registry.

Even tried downgrading to earlier Bios (A25 to A22 on Dell).
Also tried Adding in different UEFI boot option, but can't confirm the right "File System List" entry is selected as can't scroll the entries, or see the end of line to confirm that "CD" is on it.

My gut tells me that the Bios never sees the device driver (on AHCI), but I don't know if this is an AHCI SATA problem, that "worked" with the Dell Default RAID SATA driver previously or some other problem.

Has Microsoft killed off support for DVD/CD-ROMs entirely with an update?
Also I can't get an update from Matshita / Panasonic for the UJ8E0 device either ? (Originally a Win 7 computer).

Been working on this for days now and there just seems to be nothing on the Web to resolve this.
Of course, it goes without saying that ALL the firmware has been updated, (Dell & Intel and devices, but no change)

Do I have to go back to operating in RAID mode (on a single HD and flaky DVD/CD) again.
There are only 1 other thing I have thought of while writing this.

1. Check that "Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller" (worked with RAID) isn't interfering with my AHCI SATA on Win 10 ? (Update - No Option to REMOVE this driver).

After that I'm TOTALLY OUT of IDEAS guys - what am I still missing here ?
THANKS for any help / suggestions you can provide...

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

First off, make sure you're on the latest BIOS version for your motherboard.

Did you install Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator?

One other thing you can do is locate the device in Device Manager>Right click>Properties>Update Driver>Browse my computer for drivers>Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer> untick show compatible drivers and then locate the ODD from the navigation pane(s).

not sure, drive rarely used
If the drives ever being used, replace it with a caddy and a 2.5" HDD or SSD.

Thanks Lutfij,
I have just tried the RST driver yesterday, including trying the 'hot plugging' switch suggestion I came across re another Matshita drive fix - but didn't help.
Haven't needed this driver in the past with the DVD anyway...

Can't do the 2nd suggestion as there is no actual category for
"DVD/CD-ROM Drives" in Device Manager period.
Also, the navigation panel don't show this category either, or am I missing something?

The actual problem seems that the Bios simply doesn't recognise this device. I've tried swapping the ports and the ports are OK but the ODD simply isn't recognised.

If I could see all the options in the "File System List" (Add Boot Option) that would be a big help, but don't know where this list is generated is it in the Bios only or not ?
There only seem to be 2 options and neither of them work anyway.

Will try a spare ODD but it maybe too old.
Thanks for the suggestions.
