Hi

I purchased my machine with windows 8 pre-installed. I am now running 8.1. I'd like to reset my computer to factory settings, reinstalling windows and wiping the pc in the process. However, when I go to do so, I get an error saying "Missing installation media". So I go online, and i download the installation media from windows. It asks for a key, I use the disk key (OEM key i believe?) and it says "Incorrect". So I then get the installation media for windows 8, (not 8.1) and the error I get here is "Cannot use this key with a retail version of windows 8).

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

So I'm going to need the disk then? Or purchase Windows 8 again?

You either need the manufacturer's dvd(if you have one), or buy a new copy of windows 8
