missing operating system

i have a dell INSPIRON N5050 while it was morking it shut down and got the message "missing operating system" running a pre-boot check it comes out status normal is it serious you see i'm new on this (windows 7)

Yes it sounds like the Hard Drive is failing. Could try to reimage / reinstall Windows but if the drive is failing won't matter
