Hey im new to pc gaming and have just bought the Corsair CX500M power supply. But when inspecting i can see that on the PCI-E cable where it plugs into the PSU one of the metal pins inside is missing on the actual cable. Is this normal?

Solution
Right. On the GPU side, all 8-pins are populated. On the PSU side, only 7 of the 8-pins are populated. That's normal. If you look at how the +2 pins on the PCIe 6+2 connector are wires, you'll see that they're just daisy chained from the 6-pin part. They're both grounds. On the PSU side, you have three +12V and four grounds.
