Missing Primary DNS Suffix?

I have been looking for a solution to this, and all I am able to come
up with are the obvious things. This problem is not so obvious.

This is a file server in my domain:

As you can see I am missing my Primary DNS Suffix. I have added
connection-specific DNS suffix information just to try and get some
names resolved, but it will not update my DNS server with a record.

10.100.36.3 is my primary DNS server, and it's on site. I also have a
secondary DNS server off-site at another location.

The first time I did /registerdns, I got an error in the system log:

Event ID 5789 - Attempt to update DNS host name of the computer object
in the Active Directory failed. The updated value was 'NTS-NP-FILES'.
The following error occurred: The parameter is incorrect.

So I check the possible issues I was able to find on this event ID,
and I have none of them. Since I added Connection-Specific data, I no
longer get the 5789 Event when doing a /registerdns, but I still get
no record in the DNS servers, and no Primary Domain Suffix info.

I'm just not sure how to proceed from here. Any tips are appreciated.

This is a Win 2000 box with SP 2.

This is a Domain Controller, correct?
