1 - Did you have to remove a virus or infection of any kind ? They will hide folders and files and desktop Icons.

2 - If not, you can try a Windows System restore back to a date when everything showed on the desktop.

you can just type restore into the Start menu search box, and you’ll immediately see System Restore at the top of the start menu:

Or you can type rstrui into the search box and hit enter. Your choice.
