missing registry entries on windows 7

at first i thought it was a file association problem with .lnk and .exe files; but when i search out for fixes, i realize that the entry "HKEY_CURRENT_USERS/software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/FileExt is missing leaven me handless to do anything on the computer, cant acces any files nor programs or native aplications, what can i do ?

If this is a recent issue, do a system restore to a point where it was working. Or go to (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html) and follow the instructions. You will download the default Reg. info. and merge it into yours. I suggest you do a backup of the existing reg. before doing this.
