I have a Vaio Laptop. On approx 9th December 2013 I couldn't reboot the Laptop.

I tried to reboot the Laptop trying various methods, nothing would work. In the end

In the end I bought an external drive on the 20th December 2013 to back up data which worked but some scan files are missing.

I did a factory restore.

I can't understand why some scanned files are missing, I did a back up during on 11th November 2013, is that what I have recovered on the 20th December 2013?

Are there any logs in Vista which log scanned files? (for the period up to the 9th December?)

These files were scanned with FreeKature.

Hi Phillip

I carried out a Data Rescue

I followed the following procedure:-

I purchased a external drive to carry out the Rescue Data, which was successful.

I did a factory reset. I've just started using the laptop as a new laptop, this is since December.

I haven't used the VAIO Data Restore Tool, When I checked the external drive, some scanned files are missing.

Am I correct that when I usedthe VAIO Data Restore Tool those missing files should be Recovered?

Here is the manual.

http://download.sony-europe.com/pub/...0Q1_TRG_EN.pdf (link does work).

Point 4 page 22.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Phillip

This site does something to links.

The missing files aren't in the folder they were scanned in.
The files that are in the folder all seem to be the ones when the last windows back up was done.
Files were scanned after the windows back up was done.
So i'm hoping that they are in the Rescue Data done on the external drive.
Once I use the VAIO DATA Restore Tool, then they should appear.
