Mix Matching Ram

My buddy is upgrading his ram, and is offering to give me the old ones.

I currently have G.Skill Ripjaws 16gb (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600Mhz (pc3 12800)

The Ram he wants to give me is Corsair 16GB ( 2x 8GB) 1600Mhz Vengeance model


Would mix matching the ram work ? and if so would it b much of a improvement ?

There is no guarantee that it will work but if he is giving it to you then you have nothing to lose.

Just take it and give it a try. If it does not work there are a few tricks that you can try that sometimes helps. So if it does not work post again and someone can help you try to make it work.
