Hi everyone,
I am going to need a new PC soon. I will tell about my future PC:
I am going to work with Animation, 3D Modeling, Rendering, Painting (PS, Maya, Zbrush, most likely other things)... This is sort of the main purpose of the PC.
I do not need the computer ASAP, but I would like to think that winter is the time when I really need it. I am also a bit of the gamer (I also have a PS3), so the second purpose of the PC is gaming.
I will most likely use one display (I have old laptop for reference and stuff, so it will serve as a crippled secondary display in case I need it).
End of the story
Questions:
Which line of GPU should I choose?
I think I can get FirePro V5800 for like 130 British Pounds. It should tare gaming grade cards when I work, but will most likely suck at games.
If I choose gaming card (Like 560Ti or 6950), will I be able to work with non-complex animations (Like one character rigging and so on). Would I have any slowdowns (Processor discussion later) while I work? 560Ti is like 180 Pounds, 6950 is similar. I will choose at least decent GPU maker, like Asus.
I will most likely overlock GPU, will overlocking improve GPU performance in animation, modelling?
Is it worth to wait for 7XXX series? They should be coming this year.
Does CUDA technology benefit for Digital Content Creation?
Yes, the processor. I think I should wait for Bulldozers to arrive. Anyway, I am aiming for i5 2500k (Will Overclock to like 4.2-4.4Ghz) power.
Would Hyper threading (i7) highly benefit for my purposes? I will not render much or heavily.
Overclocked processor will require additional cooler, right?
These are my main concerns now, thank you for your help.
