Question Mixed Memory

Hi, I am upgrading my memory on a MSI B85M-E45 (Max Memory 32 GB) running W10 64 bit and have a question.

At present Belarc Advisor shows:-
8120 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory

Slot 'ChannelA-DIMM0' is Empty
Slot 'ChannelA-DIMM1' has 4 GB
Slot 'ChannelB-DIMM0' is Empty
Slot 'ChannelA-DIMM1' has 4 GB
The existing RAM is DDR3 running at 800 MHz
I have 2 * Crucial 8GB DDR3L-1600 UDIMM (as recommended by Crucial) which I intend to install, and I have a couple of queries relating to installation.

• Can I just install these in the empty slots, or should I replace the existing RAM with the new?
• If I add these will everything just slow to the 800 MHz?

Read the MB manual
You can't just install them in the empty slots.
Page 1-14.
I would remove the two 4GB modules and run with the two 8GB modules and they should run at 1600.
