A friend and i are building a i7 4790k vr livingroom pc. He has a Asus Z97-P motherboard and 16GB's of Kingston beast (HX321C11T3K2/16), and we're wondering if we can purchase 16GB's of Kingston beast (KHX24C11T3K2) which are way cheaper on ebay. I have no understanding of ram technologies, i've just stuck with the rule of buying from the same brand with the same Mhz. Will the differences in the specification sheets have any great impact on performance. (OR do we even need 32gb of ram for vr, we will be putting a msi 1080 in the system)

Here are links to the specifications:

Thank you,
sincerely Oliver.

Solution
You can mix them and they might work, but I don't think they'll work at elevated speeds like 2000+. And that would be the issue. Plus, if you're finding ram significantly cheaper on ebay, it's probably fake.
