Mixing Memory speeds

I currently use a single stick of Corsair Vengeance 1866 MHZ 8GB RAM. However, Amazon.com no longer sells it, but I want to upgrade to 16GB of RAM. Would it be possible to buy a stick of Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHZ RAM and match the speeds in the BIOS so they work together?

Short answer, yes. But they will work at the lower of the two speeds.

If you mix RAMs with different speeds, they will work at the speed of the slowest one, 1600 in your case. But don't worry, you won't see any difference as RAM speed doesn't really matter that much.

Technically you could downclock the 1866 to 1600 if your board allows fine tuning, but it is better to buy the ram in matched sets.
I'm a G.Skill fan myself, much cheaper than Corsair, and every bit as good.

It's a MAYBE - there are no guarantees when mixing DRAM, even if you found a stick of the same exact model - still no guarantee they will play - more in my article, item 2, here;
