I've read that I should be able to mix my old 2x512 PC3200 with 2x512 PC2700 just fine, but what I would like to know is, would it be worth doing? I know that the lower speed will be used, but would I seen any noticeable increase with twice the RAM, but at the lower 2700 speeds?

Thanks =)

Edit: I should also note that the 3200's are currently in Dual Channel mode if that makes any difference.

Solution
Depend on how much of the 3200 rated ram you have in the system.
If your low on memory, then the extra 2 x 512Mb will make a difference to how smooth windows works.

Depending on what OS you are using if it happens to be something like windows xp you should notice that it takes less time for things to happen in windows when you click on a program ect to run it.

If you want to run the 2700 with the 3200 memory make sure that your x 2 512Mb 2700 goes in the first two slots of motherboards memory slots then place the two 3200 in the other two memory slots.

That way the board will read the 2700 memory first and the speed setting, and force the 3200 memory to work at the same speed as the 2700 speed memory.

If you do it the other way...

If you do it the other way around it may fail, to read all of the memory sticks. down is always better than up when trying to get two different speeds of memory to run together ok, so fit the 2700 where you have the two 3200 sticks currently position in your motherboard.
And move the 3200 to the last two slots ok.

Solution
I thought this was easy as pie as well but it's not, make sure the ram timings are similar (they won't be) they will for the most part be auto adjusted to match the slower set. Sometimes that won't work. Make sure they have similar voltage settings and lastly make sure that you confirm the speed being used is the slower speed or you will have a lot of problems.

Thanks, plugged them in and they register just fine. =)
