Hello, and thank you for considering my question and appreciate your expertise!

I have a Dell Precision 3650. It came with 2 x 8GB DDR4 ECC

I ran the Crucial system check utility and from that which they stated was compatible with my build i ordered 2 x 16GB DDR4 ECC

In that i do have the four slots (i think; it's been a while since i opened her up...) can i combine them or would this be a mistake? If i can, should it be a configuration such as Slot 1: 16GB, Slot 2: 8GB, Slot 3: 16GB, Slot 4: 8GB?

Much appreciated. I once was on the front edge of tech, even building a new PC every 6 or so months, but around the year 2000 the tech train left me standing at the station...

If the prior sticks are like for like(identical) tot he new sticks of ram, then yes you can add them, if not, you're advised to work with one ram kit, instead of mixing and matching to ensure your platform has maximum stability.
