Hello, I have 1 4gb corsair vengeance ram stick which is a 1600mhz stick and ATM I can not afford another one but I have a spare 4gb patriots 1333mhz ram stick laying around. My motherboard does support different ram speeds up to 2400mhz but my CPU only supports 1333mhz ram (Intel i5 2500k) The reason I bought the 4gb corsair vengeance stick was for when I upgrade my CPU if you wanted to know why I bought a 1600mhz stick for a CPU that only supports 1333mhz. So basically both sticks will run at 1333mhz but is it okay to mix these two models and will the fact that the one stick is 1600mhz have any influence even though it is running at 1333mhz?

Will it work? Maybe, only way to know is to try it.

That said be prepared for it to not work and crash the PC a lot. Even memory of the same brand has a hard time mixing, so different brands are almost definitely going to give you problems.

For future reference you buy memory to match the motherboard and processor you have to use it on, not what you will have, and if you need to buy more you need to buy the EXACT same model to ensure the most likely chance of compatibility.
