Mixing Ram (Patriot Viper 1.6ghz w/ patriot Viper 3 1.6ghz)

I KNOW that this can be frowned upon however im just trying to make maximum use out of the resources i have. i purchased 2x2GB Viper 1 and then got an amazon voucher so i decided to purchase 2x8GB of viper 3 ram on discount

Memory Modules:
A: Viper 1 1600Mhz XMP
7-7-7-20
1.9v (so high???)
2x2GB

i have an MSI Mobo z87 PC mate with OC etc.

I have tested the ram working one of each (so one of A & B together)
clocked at 1600 mhz 1.56v (i heard its not safe above 1.6 and i want to save my 1. expensive ram)
9-9-9-24
all advanced settings set for B (the viper 3 ram) used as settings for A
apart from advanced sync timings which are all auto...


THE PROBLEM
ram slots:

2 slots used single channel A & B, windows 8.1 boots (sometimes crashes but can tweak later)

FAIL:

4 slots used... same settings... 2xA & 2xB dual channel... mobo resets and fails to get passed bios logo.



i know people will say the gain will be not worth the trouble but i prefer more ram if its possible for my android builds which would be MUCH quicker (and when i use my ssd as swap)

Some memory just won't work together, even the same stuff in pairs that was not tested as a set of 4 that I had to RMA for a matched set.

You can safely run memory with more voltage, many DDR3 sticks use 1.65V (but 1.9 is very high and was needed to get those fast timings).

I would bump up your voltage to 1.65V and manually set all the timings and advanced timings to the slowest of either memory. Then run memtest -- if it won't do that then it is unlikely that you will get them to work together.

Try the 8GB sticka in slots 1-3 from the CPU, manually set DRAM to 1600, 9-9-9-26, 1.6, and raise the VCCSA to 1.14 (if it allows it, not sure on MSI), go into advanced timings and raise the tRFC to 246, then shut down, and add the 2GB sticks to 2-4 and give it a try. (and make sure you have the latest BIOS for best chance at this)
