I have 4 gb ram stick in my comp with 1 free ram slot left.. the other old comp in my house has 6 gb ram (4gb and 2gb stick) should I take 2gb out of the old pc and put it in my pc to make 6gb ram? is it dangerous for the pc? I checked task manager on both pcs and both are ddr3 1600, but ive heard things bad about mixing ram with different brands

the athlon II x4 760k is a piledriver cpu, as long as you're at stock it should be ok. if you plan to overclock it somewhere down the road i insist strongly that you get matching ram before you do it. piledriver overclocks well, but it really doesn't like mix and match ram when overclocking.
its safe in the sense you won't break anything. no guarantees about system stability though.

for best stability the ram needs to be timed exactly the same. furthermore some cpus have more advanced memory controllers then others, and if you're overclocking this is just a bad idea on every level. If you're on an older AMD or Intel i'd say don't do it because the chances your system will boot or have large stability issues is pretty likely. If you're on a new intel or amd, as long as you're not overclocking you should be ok for the most part.

not overclocking and have a fairly new amd 760k. How bout i completely swap both ram sticks all together so the 4 gb and 2gb sticks from the other pc (hp p6 2310 by the way) go in my current comp and the 4gb outta mine goes into the hp. Would that possibly be a better option
