Mixing RAM size 4GB and 8GB in TOSHIBA Satellite C55-A5308 laptop

I have inherited a TOSHIBA Satellite C55-A5308 laptop (PART NO. PSCF6U-0E4066) equipped with 4GB RAM. I want to add more RAM. Can I add a 8GB DDR3/DDR3L RAM in the second slot or must it also be of 4G size?

Toshiba Satellite C55-A5308 supports 2x8GB DDR3L memory only.

You can add 4GB or 8GB along with existing 4GB. It is not must for both slots to have same size.
