Mixing sets with G.Skill RipJaws X series and RipJaws series

When the packages came in, i realized they looked different... but they both have 8gb (2x4)
Can I still put in together in my motherboard?

CPU: i5-3570k
Mobo: MSI Z77A-G41

All ram related options in bios should be set to <automatic> anyway. The bios will select the best options for both.

Sorry but wrong! First questions should be what DRAM? are the sticks 1333, 1600 or what - when DRAM is first installed it defaults to the mobos default settings which with Z77 mobos is normally 1066 or 1333, and often also defaults to loose timings, should alsways ensure your DRAM is set to spec for the sticks - otherwise you may be running slow and at loose timing under Auto that can cause problems....Also any time you mix sets of DRAM it can be problematic - even if they are the same exact sets and particularly with different models and with sticks 1600 and above...Can give the sets a try and see, they may or may not work together, if they don't or are running at lower than spec settings, give me a shout 😉

I'm still pretty sure they will work together on auto settings and the newby will find out all the details later.
