Is it okay, sure it's okay. You can make any combinations you want. It's just there are no guarantees they will work together, and no guarantees how they will work if the PC boots up.

Memory is guaranteed in the form sold. Buying a kit of two modules is a common practice.

The motherboard's specs (User Guide/Manual) will provide detailed information with respect to supported RAM configurations.

You should also verify that information via the motherboard's manufacturer's website.

Details matter so read all notes and fine print. There may be differences between motherboard versions/revisions.

Overall, performance levels are highest with matched memory kits ( e.g. 2 x 8GB) installed as Dual Channel.
