I have a prebuilt, Pavilion 790-0020, it uses Micron 8gb (1x8gb) 2666mhz ram, part number 8ATF1G64AZ-2G6E1, and I want to upgrade.

I've found the ram my desktop uses online for around $50 for 1 stick, this seems kinda expensive (https://www.amazon.com/Micron-MTA8ATF1G64AZ-2G6E1-2666MHz-Memory-Module/dp/B0779JRL1Y) since i found the same kind of ram from Crucial for $20 less (https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-DDR4...8fbb3&pd_rd_wg=TkLrk&pd_rd_i=B08C4QF5N4&psc=1).

Would I be able to just buy the Crucial ram since Micron is it's parent company or do I need to buy the Micron one, I've tried using the Crucial scanner but it turns up an error for some reason. Thank you.

Try it.
It's the only way you will know if the 2 sticks will play nice together.

Team Group uses Micron chips I think, and they're a very affordable brand.

It's not the worst to mix brands, however, as long as your specs are the same they will usually play nice.
