How did this game get through QA?

Oh, silly me. Who ever heard of QA?

Hard crashes. Odd lineups in which one of your minor leaguers plays a
duplicate position you can't get rid of. Stupid announcing mistakes (World
Series, Joe Morgan calls it an "interesting interleague game" which is a
nice "preview for October").

This game would be fun if it weren't so tragically flawed.

I haven't noticed any bugs yet, but personally, I just don't think
it's that great. $20 is all it's worth...

LOL. The irony.

Also, weren't you praising MLB 2 days ago? It couldn't have all of a sudden
gotten buggy for you after that short period of time or are you bandwagon
jumping?

i remember with morrowind, a lot of folks complaining about bugs. i
hadn't seen any, so i thought people were just spouting off. but soon
after, i started seeing them myself. sometimes it takes a good 20 hours
of gameplay to realize the flaws... immediate reaction is usually
positive, especially to a new game you just bought. fortunately, MLB2K5
only cost, what... $20 bucks? so, i guess it's not as bad as when you
just dumped $50 into a new game. i think.

putting a yankee on the cover was the first "bug" i noticed (well, it
"bugged" me, anyway!)

;o)

Can I enjoy the game and not also be bothered by the base running?
Yes...why yes I can. Why always be a dick?

1) The title of the thread is "the buggiest Xbox game Ever". If you had
come out and said that the only thing you had noticed wrong with it was the
base running, then there would be no contradiction to you saying how much
better it was than MVP. When someone posts something as negative as
buggiest EVER, there is no logical reason for agreeing with that person
unless you hadn't played the game enough to notice things when you first
posted. If you hadn't played enough to notice all of these things, I can't
see why you wouldn't have made some type of qualification so that people
knew that the things you had to "praise" about the game came from limited
game play.

2) I didn't choose to be a dick about anything. You made a pretty strong
stance on something and I just wanted to know why you lightened up after
giving the game a ringing endorsement earlier.

This game is a borderline joke. Attempting to hit the ball with 'true
aim', on All-Star difficulty, is almost impossible. You're lucky to
score four runs. The arcade mode, where it goes in slow motion and you
have to bash your controller as fast you can, is even more ridiculous.

Baseball is still the one sport game developers haven't figured out.
They're almost all incredibly inaccurate.

The game is fun and I'm getting realistic results and scores in my league.

Perhaps you shouldn't be playing on All-Star if it's too difficult.

If you prefer realism, avoid this game. On the other hand, if you're
not a real fan of baseball, but do enjoy theatrics and an arcade feel,
MLB 2K5 is the game for you.

(1) On the baserunning thing, I hated that too...Then found a
Controller Option to have the computer advance as many bases as it can
rather than stop one base at a time. The reason I did that is that
trying to figure out what combination of buttons to push when your
batter hits one in the gap with runners on the corners can be a
nightmare. And if you just hit <left> they ALL try to run home! If
you then hit <right> the ALL try to go to third. Since only one can
occupy, the other is tagged out.

(2) While the baserunning with the computer managing most of it has
become tolerable, the having to repeat the same game in the schedule
thing is NOT. How frustrating to win a hard fought game, save it, go
back to the schedule and it appears as if you had not played that game.
Same pitchers even. I have played 6 games and I am 8-0. Go figure.
8 games in 6 days. When the same game would come back up, I just
simulated it. Luckily have won both simulations, although with
different scores than my played games. But then it shows my pitcher
for that day is "exhausted"...duh! He just pitched both ends of a
double header!

That is the one feature of this game that I just can't deal with...

Please. I've read some of your posts. Clearly realism/reality is not
something on which you seem to have a firm grasp.

MLB 2K5 is essentially an arcade game. Theatrics is even injected into
swing. Try controlling baserunners, for instance. All forward, all
backward.

The point is, it's a game and it's geared towards the masses. It's not
hard to tell where the focus is. It's not on realism, it's slanted
towards a theatrical and arcade feel. I don't like when the developers
attempt to market the game as realistic. Whether you play it on a mode
that's actually called 'arcade', or so-called 'true aim'. ('true aim'
is pathetic and inaccurate at both 'rookie' and 'legend') It's not even
close to be an accurate simulation of baseball.

Every baseball game is essentially unrealistic. Pressing a button is a poor
substitute for a swing. You can turn off the swing "theatrics" as you call
them.

As far as baserunning goes, as someone else said you can turn off the all
run option and there are numerous ways to direct your baserunners. Perhaps
you weren't aware of those possibilities.

Hmmm...I disagree.

The scores, batting averages, ERAs, individual player performance all seems
to accurately simulate actual MLB results. Turn off any visual beels and
whistles you don't like.

Finally, I believe most video games are aimed at the masses. I believe that
might even be part of the marketing plan.

If the time spent on giving it an arcade feel was redirected towards
increasing the sense of realism (e.g. more accurate ABs, swings,
fielding improved AI, etc..), the game could've been enjoyable. (at
least for me) In addition, the gameplay of all three ESPN 2K games have
been incredibly childish on Xbox live. (10 touchdowns, 10 three
pointers, 10 home runs... that sort of deal)
