Hi guys, I'm really struggling to understand what monitor features I should look for based on my needs so any help will be really appreciated. Basically I will play 3A games like The Witcher 3, Mad Max or MMOs and Mobas like WoW and Dota.
By characteristics I mean:

  • - I'd love to have a 27'' 1440p monitor but I can go with a 27'' 1080p or even 24'' 1080p as a last resort.
    - TN x IPS (I'm not playing FPS so I prefer nice colors over hyper performance although I'm ok with a TN that doesn't suck on that aspect)
    - My graphic card is a GTX970 but I'm very likely to buy another one and enable SLI so I think I will have a good performance in terms of fps. Should I buy a 144hz monitor or it doesn't really matter for non fps games?
    - Should I care about g-sync at all?

I cannot afford high end monitors that have the best option of all the features above so I have to drop some of them and I'm not sure which are less important. If you can provide a good monitor suggestion or which features doesn't matter for my profile I'll be forever grateful!

Solution
Go with a 1440p monitor over G-Sync and 144Hz. You'll notice that difference more than the other 2. Just keep in mind a single GTX 970 may not be able to max settings out 1440p in the latest games AA. (I'm sure WoW and DOTA would be fine).

Go with IPS over TN, if you can afford it. I play FPS on my older IPS monitors all the time, and don't ever notice issues with ghosting/response time.

Read up on G-Sync and decide for yourself. Some people actually don't like the look of 144Hz. Again, I'd focus on getting a nice 1440p IPS display, with decent reviews, and then go from there.

What's your budget?
