Installed mn-700 base and using mn-710 adaptor (little usb
thing with antenna) and all works perfectly. Have a laptop
I want on the network also. Configured Lucent / Orinoco
wireless PCMCIA card in the laptop and it sees the base,
gets very high signal strength, but no packets ever
received from base.

Is MS locking out other brands?

Check the settings for the wifi card. Match SSID, channel,
and WEP key, key length, and key type with the router.
SOmetimes it helps to disable WEP initially, and/or
assigning a static IP on the card (e.g. 192.168.2.2, mask
255.255.255.0, DNS/gateway 192.168.2.1).
