Hi, :?:

Biostar M7VIP Pro
KT333 - VT8235
FSB - 200/266/333
RAM - 1G PC3200
CPU - AMD Athlon XP-M 2600+ @ 266FSB, AXMA2600FKT4C
CPU has Barton CORE (0.13M) to run cooler in Laptop.

The CLK jumpers on mobo are set on 133 for 266 bus.

My problem is the motherboard will not read the full speed of the CPU in the BIOS or in Windows (AIDA). AIDA says it is running at 3x266=800MHz. Wcpuclk.exe program gives me 797.73 MHz.

The only multipliers the motherboard will generate are 3x266. There is no jumper setting for the multiplier nor is there a place to do it in the BIOS. It is all automatic.

I've tried everything I know how to do and can not get it to read the full speed of the CPU which should be 2.13 Gig.

Is anybody running the Mobile AMD Athlon XP-M 2600+ @ 266FSB, on a PC? I ran it just fine on another Biostar M7VIT800. It picked it right up without any problems at the correct speeds.

I know I'm missing something, but can't figure it out. 8O

Any help appreciated,

Howard

You need another mobo. nForce2 Ultra 400, preferably. Without access to the multiplier in the BIOS, you'll never get it going faster than 800 MHz.

My setups that include the XP-M:

Asus A7N8X Deluxe Rev. 2.0
nForce2 SPP - MCP-T
FSB 200/266/333/400
RAM 2x512 Corsair 3200C2
Athlon XP-M 2500+ @ 200x11
Gigabyte 3D (air) cooler

Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
nForce2 Ultra 400 - MCP-T
FSB 200/266/333/400
RAM 2x512 Corsair TWINX3200XLPRO
Athlon XP-M 2600+ @ 200x12
Thermaltake Extreme Volcano 12 (air) cooler

There are a few other boards that will do this, but few (or maybe even none) quite as well. One from ABit, one from Leadtek, one each from Gigabyte and MSI as well, probably.

Hi seraphan6,

Thanks for the reply and the tips.

I also think that it would help if the motherboard would support a Barton CPU. I can't find anyplace that says this board (Biostar M7VIP) will support a Barton. That's probably the main problem. Supporting 266 FSB isn't enough.

Thanks for the help,
