They can be used in desktops, too. May take a BIOS flash to make it work. Be careful choosing the mobo - Abit NF7-S v2.0 would be a great board for this chip. One of the advantages of the Mobile chips is that OC very well if you have the right components in the system. If you're getting a new mobo/CPU, then I would recommend going the s939 or s754 route...

What I should have said is it is a good board for using an XP Mobile (Barton core)...
