mobile for transparent vr on gopher?

i need a rear view camera screen on my gopher. can i use a cheap vr headset with a mobile and foward facing camera wit transparent overlayed rear view image? android 8.1.0 moto g5 plus., not rooted. pls recomend apps to do this. i don't have >$500 for the professional solution.

i have a wifi transmitter for a usb endoscope, i can send pics to phone via its app. i have an image converter make a left and right image from one for the viewer. i just need to combine the front and rear images transparently, or be able to select easily as required or by cyclic timed separation. ideas pls? will need someone to write an app. transmitter will need bigger battery, for >4hrs opperation.

I'm presuming a "gopher" is some kind of vehicle. If yes, I would advise against any VR headset because it can potentially restrict your vision and if the thing goes out, you're effectively blind. If you're instead thinking of an AR headset, then there's no cheap AR headset available.

If you need a rear view thing, I would advocate jury rigging a mirror. It'd be a lot cheaper than trying to do this.

thx, but mirrors are impractical, they have to be so long-shafted that they flap about too much on bumps. can't find any tv rear viewer/spectacle combos on ebay, where i thought i saw such some yrs back.
