I wanted to know if starting a mobile sort of IT support and repair for computers and networks(probably may do some website design as well) would be a good idea. It would be for businesses and some residential. I want to clarify that I am NOT trying to be a mobile computer repairman. I live in Charleston, SC so thats a lot of people and businesses and I would be willing to travel up to 50 miles, so I would have many people and companies in the area to work with. Do you think I would even get a phone call, or would no one need my services? Thanks

You might get a couple of calls. Large corporations in your area likely have deals with whomever sold them their computers to have a team of techs on-call. Mid-range companies probably have their own team or sub-contract out to a company. You might get some calls from residential and very small businesses (one or two computers), but that's about it and most of those are Dell/Acer/HP computers that may still have warranties. If you open a computer that's still under warranty, you void it. If it's not under warranty, then you have to (or at least should) provide some level of warranty yourself. This could get costly to the point of it no longer being profitable.

I still like the idea of being an individual IT guy. What if I offered teaching to, like how to use such and such, and I offered support for mobile devices? That would cover computer hardware, software, networking, teaching, mobile device support and more. I really feel that there is a market for this.
