I work in an office and so my nearby colleagues aren't continuously disturbed by my mobile phone ringing I put it on silent and place it underneath my monitor. Of course when it rings, my monitor goes 'crazy' and the lines jump around the page and I know a call is about to come and I pick up.

Just today I am wondering is this is damaging my CRT monitor at all?

Maybe, your phone could magnetize the mask structure inside the CRT and cause a permanent discoloration on the screen. Suggest you find another place to keep your phone.
