Mobile XP2500+

Anyone here tried a Mobile XP2500+ on an NF2 mobo? I hear these things are being air-cooled overclocked to 2700MHz and beyond! I knew people were OC'in the mobile chips in their desktops, but never knew these kind of results were possible. Well I just ordered one to see how it will do compared to my regular XP2500+

I'll let you know by the middle of next week. I'll be trying mine on a Soltek SL-75FRN2-RL. A buddy of mine ordered one also and will be trying it on an Abit AN7.

I'm considering ordering one as well just for the hell of it. I've seen people talking about it, and i think i should order now so i can have a chance at an unlocked one.
So far they seem to be out of stock at newegg any better suggestions?

I'll run it till it pops, becuase i have my barton 2500 desktop.

I got mine here because Newegg charges NJ Tax now. They keep going in and out of stock at Newegg with the limit of 5. EWiz says limit 1.

Well you have spiked my interest. Looks like a worthy upgade to my xp2400.

Very cool thanks for the post

If I glanced at a spilt box of tooth picks on the floor, could I tell you how many are in the pile. Not a chance, But then again I don't have to buy my underware at Kmart.

Do you know if these chips are totally multiplier unlocked? (The high multipliers in specific). I would imagine they are, since they're mobile chips. If so, I'd be interested in replacing my 1600+ Pally, as I only have PC2100 memory. I was about to get a 2500+ Barton and unlock the higher multipliers about a month ago, until I heard the news of the locking.

People are getting these to 200fsb/or higher correct?
I have a 2500+ at 2.2ghz and it wouldn't really be a smart buy for me, but i'm a tinkerer at heart. :)
Imagine a 2700mhz athlon. I know they are getting higher, but if i could get 2.7ghz running at like 1.675 vcore the temps would be lower than shite. My 2500 right now is at 1.675 but under hardcore load it reaches 46-49c after hours of intense 3d gaming.

@ 1.83GHz with 512 cache and 333 fsb it should = xp2500 when at 266 xp rating should be lower correct. did not the barton gain pr when going fromm 333 to 400 fsb @ same clock?

This cpu is exactly barton 2500 but uses 266 fsb instead of 333. food for thought

I agree but where do they get the xp rating they sell it @ 133 fsb.....

xp2500 @1.83 needs 166 for the pr rating 2500

Yes they are multiplier unlocked, but many motherboards/bios's don't have multilier settings above 12.5 anyway. My Soltek has Multipliers up to 22X, so I am curious as to what this chip will do. My desktop Barton was unlocked too, but I didn't get great results pushing the muliplier up. FSB increase gave loads more speed.

Anyway, I'd be happy at 12x200 2400mhz and fairly low temps. But would like to push it for all I can. Wish I had some PC4000 instead of PC3200 though.

I have a newer motherboard (NF7-S) with multipliers up to 22x, too. I'd be happy with 146x17. It would be nice to be able to use the chip with my current setup, then upgrade to faster memory later and run the Barton at a high FSB. I'm just waiting to see if the price on PC3200/PC3500 memory will ever drop. Keep us posted!

Just an update. My tracking number shows Friday as delivery date. I'm a little bummed, but probably wouldn't have had time before the weekend anyway. Hopefully I'll have some clock speeds and benchies to share by Saturday.

Too impatient I guess. Running at 2.3 on 1.7 volts. Guess this will be my "home" speed. Too chicken to push too much till later.
Oh by the way, got mine from ncix for $141.can.

Guys, will I be able to use smaller fan like the one they use in notebook for this process if I keep it at default setting (1.45v). My goal is to keep the computer as silent as possible.

I've been running SiSoft Sandra Burnin at these settings. loop of 5 or 10 runs at 100% CPU utilization. The following speeds have given me no troubles. I have my memory set at very relaxed settings, but will try to tweak things for some benchmarking scores sometime soon.

2.2GHz (11*200) @ 1.625v
2.3GHz (11.5*200) @ 1.7v
2.4GHz (12*200) @ 1.75v
2.33GHZ (14*166) @ 1.65v

Tried 2.5GHz (12.5*200) But I can't get it stable, even after bumping the voltage to 1.8v My mobo maxes out at 1.85v. Haven't tried that yet, but I just might have to try it. It has met my minimum OC'in hopes just fine, although I'd love to see even better. It will run 11*166 1.83GHz at 1.5v with a load temp of 5 degrees over my system temp. So it's a nice chip for a quiet cool running system. I was amazed to see my temps idling in the bios: System temp 24, CPU external temp 24, ABSII 27(core temp read from diod in the cpu itself). That is way lower than my regular Barton XP2500+.

I'll post more results as I get a chance. Hopefully I'll push the fsb beyond 200 and also try it out on a number of different motherboards. First will be a Gigabyte GA-7VAX KT400. I'm just curious how it will run on non-NF2 systems. Until then, here is another nice little article about this chip.

Im getting my hands on a week 48 barton 2500 chip and plan on pluggin it in the difficult a7n8x-d mobo. Anyone that is planing on getting the a7n8x mobo better get the mobile bartons for the max voltage this mobo can possibly do is 1.9 which makes this chip VERY desirable to those that own one. Has anyone ran into the Speedstep problem of this chip or does the mobo ignore it?

Also has anyone else tried pushing the FSB past 200 on this chip yet?
