Why aren't they 90 degree by now?

Pros:
Less stress on PCB during remove/install
Much easier to remove/install harness
Improves system cooling fan airflow

I know about the adapters I just wanted it built into the mobo. I bought this one it was the cheapest at amazon for $4. Could I maybe test it with a ohm meter?

Yeah but I thought resistance is what causes heat buildup? I read that it's the poor soldering jobs onto the PCB, but this one looks pretty solid.
Resistance is close to 0 at such distances, only a loose, bad or corroded contacts may cause higher resistance. As even then resistance is so low, it's unlikely you can measure it with ordinary ohm meter.. Because probes from ohm meter would also cause some resistance, in those cases resistance is calculated from voltage drop and that requires very precise instruments and calibrated voltage.
