I currently have

mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131647

CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808

A friend recently gave me the following ( which will allow me to use the ran i won last fall old mobo can't)

mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131735

CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103960

so since same brand mobo and type of cpu i was told If i install drivers for the new mobo and swap i won't have to do a fresh windows install is this true and if so can someone tell me what drivers i'd need to use to pull this off

Often (first make sure Win is up to date and you have backups of data files (just in case)) you simply have to install the boot drive to the new mobo/CPU combo and Win will transition to the new. Then load the latest mobo drivers from it's website, run a registry cleaner (Wise has a good free version) and reactivate Win and you're done

OK I have winsows 7 as it's what my friend installed on it i when i built it. how do i install the boot drive to the new mobo/cpu itried swapping before but wouldn't go past the bios basically. DO i have to install drivers for the new mobo before the swap?

Tried that and wouldn't boot it starts up i get the screen saying starting up with the colored balls then screen goes off and my mouse and kb etc. What mobo drivers would i need to install before i shut down and swap everything. website for the mobo lists so many.

I was gone most of the day yesterday the mobo info is here https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULA/ since it came out after W7 shouldn't I have to install some drivers first before turning it off so it'll boot up and if so which ones?

I see BIOS, BIOS-Utilities, Chipset, AUDIO, LAN, USB, Utilities, SATA what items would I need to do this just newest bios or what this is all new territory for me I haven't done anything more then swap out a gpu or ram really before.

thanks and yes going from the old evo to the crosshair and 8150 a friend gave me. i won a 2x8gb ram kit last year and i can't use it since the old mobo caps out at 4gb a channel and a friend gave me his old crosshair and cpu

For Win7:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULA/HelpDesk_Download/

BIOS is ver 1703
Chipset - Version 8.973&8.981
Audio - Version 6.0.1.7525
LAN - Version 16.4.0.0
USB - Version 1.14.1.0
SATA - there are two first AMD Version 1.2.1.292&3.3.1540.1 then ASMedia Version 1.3.4.0

I ended up having to do a fresh install on another hard drive now the mobo hates me and i can't get good sound for the life of me -_- i hate realtek audio it has sounds like crap any ideas

Yes and the soundblaster utility seems the port on the back is messed up and having issues with the mic on the front -_- sounds like i need a sound card get one thing working and something else messes up
